Climate Change – Response to Text

Climate Change – Response to Texts

Think carefully about each question, and use evidence from the texts to support your conclusions. Write your answers in full sentences, and use explanations and examples where needed.

  1. What are two of the largest sources of climate change? Explain what they are.

Source One: Fossil fuels – coal, oil and gas – are by far the largest contributor to global climate change, accounting for over 75 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions and nearly 90 percent of all carbon dioxide emissions.
Source Two: Natural processes, such as changes in the sun’s energy and volcanic eruptions, also affect the earth’s climate.

  1. Explain what impact climate change is having on our environment. Include at least 2 examples.

Fox glacier it was the world’s Largest glacier UNTIL the glacier MELTED and caused a massive landslide and turned into fox river.
Droughts have a big impact on earth from little cities to whole countries

  1. What are greenhouse gases?

Greenhouse gases (also known as GHGs) are gases in the earth’s atmosphere that trap heat. During the day, the sun shines through the atmosphere, warming the earth’s surface. At night the earth’s surface cools, releasing heat back into the air.

  1. How does deforestation contribute to climate change?

Less trees means that if we produce more carbon then now, the trees won’t have enough time to take it in and give out fresh air not allowing the earth to get the carbon out into space

  1. Why is it important to reduce our carbon footprint?

So that the earth doesn’t have to try and release the extra carbon.
